Former PAA PARTY Gubernatorial candidate George Kithi has let the cat out of the bag by disclossing that he wants to have a "handshake" with Governor Gedion Mung'aro.
He disclosed the details during an exclusive interview with the editors of Kilifi News Updates where he outlined key reasons why he wants to have a "handshake" with Governor Mung'aro.
First among the many reasons is that he feels betrayed by the party that sponsored him to vie for the gubernatorial contest where he finished a distant third behind the current Governor Hon. Gedion Mung'aro and the vibrant iron lady Hon.Aisha Jumwa, who is currently the Minister for Gender in the government of Kenya Kwanza.
"The party failed to honour its promise to stand with me to the end and instead the top leadership had shifted its focus on non-important matters such as grassroots mobilisation strategies which in this case could have waited until we were done with this case and then embark on other activities,"said the politician who is a lawyer by profession.
Secondly, the politician, also known as Wakili Mtetezi on the political circles said that the case has eaten into his hard-earned money and he feels he will lose more after the case was dismissed with costs of upto Ksh 6Million.
"The case at Malindi High Court earlier in the year cost me a fortune and I think its high time I look for my good friend Mung'aro to have a handshake with him and help him to work for the people of Kilifi, because despite being a lawyer,am also a good businessman and I hope to continue doing business with the county government just like before during King's reign"said the lawyer-cum-politcian,looking confident to strike a good deal with the Governor, adding that his ideas can really help the Governor in making the lives of the people of Kilifi better.
Reports from credible sources show that George Kithi is keen to continue working with the government of the day just like the good old days when he was a regular visitor at the Governor's office in the then Amason Kingi's government.
Credible sources also indicate that the lawyer has struggled to pay the Ksh.6Million fee he incurred after the collapse of his case at Malindi High Court early in the year and that could be the main reason he is seeking to have a handshake in order to offset some of his bills including the one at the court after losing a solicitor-general job from Kenya Kwanza government, even after using his fortune to lobby for the job.
However, it is yet to be seen if the Governor will heed to his call of working with his political nemesis, having labeled him a corrupt and an untrustworthy politician during the campaigns.
Efforts to reach out to the Office of the Governor to respond to the matter bore no fruits as we were told the Governor was busy and could not be reached to respond to any of our questions concerning the matter.
