WHY GOVERNOR MUNG'ARO'S WATER AGENDA IS WORKING.

THE WATER AGENDA💧💧


1.The Kilifi County Government has been keen on solving a persistent water problem once and for all and it has embarked on mega projects to put to an end to this menace in the quickly developing county in the Coast region. 


Example of those projects that are expected to solve these problems include:


✅ BwagaMoyo-Mkapuni water project with a pumping system that will get water from Mwakirunge to Rabai Sub-county: Phase 1 of this project is completed and Phase 2 is starting soon.



 ✅Mariakani-Tsangatsini Water Pipeline with a new pump at Damview in Mariakani that will supply water to Kayafungo Ward in Kaloleni.Phase 1 is completed and fully operational while Phase 2 is starting soon. 


✅ Mryachakwe-Bofu 4Km water project that is expected to supply water to thousands of residents in the area.


✅A 21km pipeline Gongoni-Marereni Water Pipeline Project with water kiosks that has 14km already completed and the remaining part is currently on-going that has a value of Ksh 98m.


✅ Bamba-Shirango-Ganze, a 43Km Water Project at a cost of Ksh100Million that is expected to solve water problem in Ganze and bring water closer to residents after undergoing unexplained suffering of searching for water in long distances. 


✅Chinyume-Ribe Water Project that will have a new bigger tank and pump and which will ensure 24/7 water supply to Kaloleni town.It will also enhance water supply in Kambe/Ribe and Ruruma Wards of Rabai. 


✅ Palakumi-Mwijo Water Project. This is a game changer water project supply system that will supply Ganze, Mwanamwinga which us currently receiving no piped water) and Kayafungo Wards. 


✅Costruction of a 5 million litres water storage tank in Mtepeni to ensure 24/7 water supply to the newly established Mtwapa Municipality. Tender for this project has already been advertised. 


✅Construction of a 2.5 million litres water tank at Buni in Rabai Kisurutini water to secure water supply in the larger Rabai constinuency. 


✅The Kilifi Government has already completed rehabilitation of 3 Boreholes in Kadzandani that has enhanced and improved supply of water to thousands of residents in Magarini.The Government is drilling more boreholes in all the 7 subcounties in Kilifi to end the perennial problem of water in the county. 



✅Numerous water projects are being undertaken in all major towns like Kilifi,Mtwapa,Malindi,Watamu and Mariakani with the help of the World Bank.


✅ The government has invested a substantial amount of money to connect water to areas that have not had piped water since independence like Chamari, Changoto, Ramada, Shirango, Bofu, Rima Ra Pera, Tsangatsini, Marereni and many other. These projects are starting soon while others are already going on. 


✅Overhaul of the Baricho- Dakacha Pipeline to get more water to Garashi and Marafa.The Tender for this has already been advertised. 



✅All 7 Sub-counties will benefit from numerous water projects in a bid to put to rest the water problems in Kilifi and fulfill the Governor's Agenda of having a County with Zero Water Problems.


✅The Kilifi Government  is also developing and enhancing its own water source by doing more boreholes at Kambicha well field in Magarini.



In Kaloleni, the govt is set to develop Masha Kadzinga well field to a reliable water source to supply 70% of Kaloleni's water requirement. 



The Baricho well field will also have new boreholes, an independent power source and bigger solarized pumps to supply the entire Magarini Sub-County. 


Currently,Kilifi is ranked Position 2 in the whole country, with only Nairobi County being ahead of the county in terms of water connection where over 1.1Million residents are connected with drinking water which accounts to 73% of the total coverage.



More efforts are being put in place by the Chief Officer for Water, Hon Hezekiah Mwaruwa and his Minister,Hon.Omar Said to push the coverage to reach 99.9% by the end of Governor Mung'aro's 10yrs reign and give reprieve to the thousands of Kilifi residents who lack this important asset.
